Stellar Care now offers Life Skills classes to adults with developmental disabilities. To develop natural supports, we also will enroll individuals who are not developmentally disabled to integrate with those who have DD. Transportation is provided to and from all classes which are held in the Stellar Care office. The Winter Quarter schedule covers 11 weeks (January-March 2013); the Spring Quarter schedule covers 13 weeks (April-June 2013). An assessment is conducted at the first week, and students will be re-assessed at the last class to determine their progress. At the end of each quarter, each participant who has attended at least 80% of the classes will receive a Certificate of Completion. Call (719) 344-8931 to enroll.
Specific outcomes for persons with developmental disabilities as the result of participation in this program are: 1) To have individuals obtain an increased level of self-sufficiency, feel more comfortable with completing basic life skills (cooking, cleaning, hygiene, money management, etc.), and become more marketable. 2) To understand how to develop a healthier physical and mental lifestyle thru exercise, eating better, and managing stress. 3) To develop new friendships and natural supports.
